Yello

Hit Thing is happy to announce the re-release of the first two albums on vinyl by the Swiss band YELLO
from 1980 and 1981: SOLID PLEASURE and CLARO QUE SI. Both partner releases are deluxe gatefold editions with expanded original
era artwork. Each release contains extensive historical liner notes that reveal a fascinating portrait about the Swiss band and
their mysterious connection with Ralph Records (The Resident's record label). Both sought after albums vanished into vinyl collector
land in the U.S. after they were sold to Phonogram in Europe.
Originally released by Ralph Records in 1980, SOLID PLEASURE was the debut LP that introduced the world to YELLO. It featured the
legendary singles "Bimbo" and "Bostich". There's always been an air of mystery about this album and how the band managed to connect
with The Resident's label in San Francisco. The story is at last revealed in this edition's liner notes after extensive research and
consultation both with the band and Ralph Records. The package is further embellished with several unpublished photos of YELLO from this era.
CLARO QUE SI was the group's second LP and their last for Ralph Records. It contained their first huge hit "Pinball Cha Cha", which opened the
door to their well-known career. The artwork for CLARO QUE SI has been significantly praised worldwide. Original designer Jim Cherry went on to
win numerous awards and acclaim for this masterpiece of album art. 24 years later Hit Thing consulted with Cherry for the redesign of this
CLARO QUE SI edition. Cherry provided alternate graphic art from the era, as well as a remarkable background story of his design process, as
told in the liner notes.
There's a 500 limited edition series of CLARO QUE SI that reproduces the original Ralph Records' pressings in three different
duotones: green, pink, and of course yellow. A true must for YELLO fans and collectors.
Both albums have been re-mastered for 150-gram vinyl and cut at Dub Plates in Berlin. There's a limited edition of 1000 copies for
each title that includes a bonus 12" 45 rpm single. At last these two classic albums of early electronic atmospheric pop madness can return to
the turntables of another generation.
